Earth Studio (Senior Thesis)- This is the design for a ceramic studio in the Pine Tree Silk Mill Building in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A large cafe and gallery are situated toward the front of the space and a state-of-the-art ceramic studio toward the back. This experimental design looks at human's connection with the earth—specifically, it explores the creation of objects from the earth. The clay pieces that are created in the studio are used in the cafe as coffee mugs, dishes, etc. The balcony system located on the second floor, the glass walls dividing the hallway and Work Room, and the Cafe dishes for all to use are effective ways of connecting artists and passers-by, bringing inspiration and creativity to an underserved neighborhood.
